COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF FLUID COOLING SYSTEMS IN MOTORIZED SPINDLES

This paper analyzes geometrical approaches to optimize the fluid cooling circulation of motorized spindles. The spindle cooling’s effectiveness, efficiency and influence on machine’s precision are analyzed through observations stator temperature, pressure drop thermal asymmetry, respectively. observation is based a validated coupled thermal/fluid mechanical simulation model. widely used helix meander shape sleeves primarily investigated. Additionally, so-called S-meander was developed, which combines advantages formerly mentioned sleeves. In order understand nonlinear interactions properly, width height channels were varied separately simultaneously. While keeping flow rate identical, average temperature could be decreased by 2.3 K solely with optimizations. Interestingly, motor not continuously raising velocity reduction size. For S-meander, actually increases after passing certain sweet spot. this optimum different for helix, sleeve. results imply that optimization in spindles has significant potential.
